Welcome to Pro Dunk Hoops, the basketball pole (a.k.a. post, backstop, standard, net) specialists. Our family owned and operated company has been designing, manufacturing and installing premium basketball pole and posts since 1984 making us one of the oldest and most experienced manufactures in the country. Save big on basketball posts and pole systems when you buy manufacturer direct right here at Pro Dunk Hoops. Our story »
We use heavy duty one-piece steel basketball poles making our systems rock solid. The basketball pole is a full 3/16 inch thick (7 gauge) and has a resilient black powder coat (not painted) finish. The basketball pole is mounted to a separate pier system which makes moving your basketball goal pole when you do a cinch.
Basketball poles are the weak link in many systems. So, how do you ensure your pole is going to provide the kind of stability you want? There are several things to be aware of when purchasing a residential basketball system.
The basketball post specifically refers to the vertical piece of equipment that the backboard or extension arm attaches to. There are many types of posts. Popular types include round, rectangular and square. There are also many different kinds of finish that can be applied including paint, powder coat and galvanization. These finishes help to protect posts from corrosion while making them look appealing. Posts can be found on in-ground and portable basketball goals while roof, wall and other types of basketball hoops use different support structures. Many times the term post refers to complete basketball goal systems.
Accessories such as ball holders / containers can be mounted to posts for convenient storage of basketball equipment. Also, lighting solutions like the Hooplight MAX use U-bolts to mount to the post as well. Training aids such as the Zipedo Rebounder and Shotmatic Rim Reducers use a post system for application to the rim.
The nets we offer on Pro Dunk and Hercules basketball goals are designed to hold up to years of brutal weather conditions. Alternatives you find at many local stores rarely remain intact for more than a year increasing cost of maintenance and leaving your hoop in disrepair more often.
We offer several very useful netting accessories that return and keep balls in the playing area. The Airball Grabber does exactly what the title say. A spider web looking net system is draped behind your system to keep balls that miss the backboard and rim out of the neighbor’s yard. The RolBak Gold Pro net is perfect for practicing jump shots returning the ball for made and most missed shots.
Basketball nets were introduced early in basketball's history. James Naismith originally used a peach basket which was later revised to the net we see today. There are many varieties including but not limited to cloth and metal chain nets. Many times, the term "net" refers to the broader piece of equipment including the backboard, rim and supporting structure. It does not seem to be used in any context more than another making it a pretty close synonym to other terms such as basketball goal, basketball hoop , etc. Home basketball nets are usually seen on garages, in-ground beside the driveway or on the driveway in portable form. All take advantage of the home's driveway transforming it into a great basketball court.
