Pro Dunk® - Performance

Performance has been a staple of Pro Dunk® design since inception. The genuine Pro Dunk® system offers an unparalleled playing experience that continually exceeds the expectations of demanding and young players alike.

Bring gymnasium quality play to your driveway or backyard court with Pro Dunk®'s stable construction and institutional standards.

High Performance Backboard

Tempered glass is the material of choice for premium high-performance basketball systems. It is heavier and more rigid than light, soft, plastic alternatives such as acrylic, polycarbonate and composite. Tempered glass is used in arenas around the world and has been proven to perform 22% better than acrylic.

The goal of bringing professional gymnasium play to the driveway and backyard court has been realized. Pro Dunk's new 1/2" thick tempered glass backboard delivers unsurpassed performance and rebounds 9% better than the thinner 3/8" thick alternatives. The increased weight and thickness improves the backboard's resiliency to movement and adds significant rigidity.

The high-performance glass board is framed in a heavy-duty 1/2" thick solid aluminum frame. Heavy-duty steel "L" brackets join the strong square joints adding rigidity and improving rebounding characteristics.

Stable Extension Arm

The Pro Dunk® extension arm has been expertly engineered to perform at the highest level. A vast majority of shots taken off of the backboard bounce in and around the shooter's square. Pro Dunk®'s extension arm is mounted directly behind the shooter's square. The force from backboard shots are directly transferred to the stable main pole. Competitor's extension arm systems add support at the edges of the backboard leaving the sweet spot weak.

Whether you are boxing out for a rebound or running in for a lay-up the playing area behind the backboard is critical. The Pro Dunk® extension arm allows large overhang distances so players can easily stay on the court and not run into the pole. The Diamond model touts an industry leading 5' overhang to accommodate regulation play.

Rigid Pole

All Pro Dunk models have a thick 7 gauge one piece square pole. Pro Dunk's rigid pole adds critical stability to the complete system. It will easily support aggressive dunking and offers a rock solid shooting experience. The Diamond model touts an industry leading 8" square pole that offers unrivaled stability.

Tempered glass performs better and is more durable over time than acrylic. It is the preferred material for backboards in most cases unless you are very price conscious or are concerned about vandalism.

Performance
The rebound response of tempered glass is 31% greater than acrylic because it is a much heavier and harder material. All professional arenas use tempered glass backboards.

Durability
Tempered glass resists scratching and will remain crystal clear for the life of the basketball system just like your car windshield. Acrylic is a softer material that will accumulate scratchs from grit on the ball and dirt in the air over time giving the backboard a cloudy dull look. Although acrylic will cloud, it will never shatter making it better for hostile environments where performance is not paramount.

Price
Acrylic is more economical than tempered glass in most cases although prices continue to narrow with the rising cost of plastics around the world.
