Complete Basketball Pole Systems
The pole of an in-ground basketball system is the base of stability
We use heavy duty one-piece steel basketball poles making our systems rock solid. The basketball pole is a full 3/16 inch thick (7 gauge) and has a resilient black powder coat (not painted) finish. The basketball pole is mounted to a separate pier system which makes moving your basketball goal pole when you do a cinch.
Make sure your pole is high-quality with these four tips
Basketball poles are the weak link in many systems. So, how do you ensure your pole is going to provide the kind of stability you want? There are several things to be aware of when purchasing a residential basketball system.
- First, make sure you are getting a one-piece pole. Multi-piece poles are weaker and rust at the joints.
- Secondly measure the thickness of the metal used. The best poles use a 7 gauge (3/16 inch) or thicker metal for superior stability.
- Third, check the diameter or square size of the pole. Four to eight inches are the best depending on the backboard size and weight.
- Lastly make sure your pole has a durable rust preventing finish. Powder coating and galvanization are two very good finishes for steel.
