It was 1984 and the oil industry was going through hard times. There was a surplus of oil field pipe and Keith Tate, founder and owner of Hoops Inc., had the perfect plan. He began manufacturing some of the first heavy-duty home basketball goals on the market. The durable goals instantly caught on and the rest is history.
